Policy Terms
- Introduction This Privacy Policy explains how Juba Cars Trading (“Juba Cars”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects personal data through www.jubacarrs.net and any related Android or iOS applications, inquiry tools, dealer onboarding systems, customer support channels, and associated marketplace features.
- Who this Policy applies to This Policy applies to buyers, prospective buyers, verified dealer representatives, app users, website visitors, inquiry submitters, inspection or appointment requesters, marketing recipients, and any other person who interacts with our marketplace or related services.
- Marketplace model Juba Cars is a vehicle marketplace built for East Africa and designed to connect buyers with verified car dealers that maintain physical business locations. Individual or private sellers are not permitted to list vehicles on the platform.
- Categories of personal data We may collect names, phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers, email addresses, business and dealership information, account credentials, device and browser information, IP addresses, inquiry history, saved listings, preferences, support communications, verification information, and any other data reasonably required for platform operation, safety, compliance, or service improvement.
- Data collected from buyers and visitors From buyers and visitors we may collect account information, search activity, vehicle preferences, saved items, message content, request details, inspection or callback requests, support records, and limited location information if a feature requires it and the user permits it.
- Data collected from dealers From dealer organizations and their representatives we may collect legal or trading names, physical shop details, representative identities, business contact details, listing information, compliance documentation, payment information, and verification materials needed to assess eligibility and maintain platform integrity.
- Purposes of processing We process personal data to operate the marketplace, verify dealers, publish listings, route buyer inquiries, arrange callbacks or visits, support search and account functions, prevent fraud and misuse, handle complaints, improve platform quality, communicate about services, and meet legal, operational, tax, audit, or security obligations.
- How we collect data We collect information directly from users and dealers, through forms, account creation, customer support channels, uploads, cookies, analytics tools, app permissions, messaging features, and from lawful third-party verification, payment, fraud-prevention, or technical service providers.
- Legal bases Where applicable, we rely on contract performance, legitimate interests, legal obligations, protection of rights and platform integrity, and consent where consent is required for the relevant feature or communication.
- Sharing with verified dealers When a buyer sends an inquiry, appointment request, or similar lead, we may share the user’s contact details and message content with the relevant verified dealer so that the dealer can respond. Once shared, the dealer may also process that information under its own lawful internal practices.
- Other sharing and disclosure We may also share personal data with payment providers, communications vendors, cloud or hosting providers, customer service providers, analytics vendors, inspection or verification partners if used, professional advisers, competent regulators, law-enforcement authorities, and courts or dispute-resolution bodies where necessary or legally required.
- Cookies, analytics, and app technologies Our website and apps may use cookies, log files, SDKs, analytics, crash-reporting, fraud-prevention tools, session controls, and similar technologies to operate the platform, remember preferences, analyze performance, detect suspicious activity, and improve the user experience. Some browser-based controls may allow you to manage non-essential cookies.
- App permissions Our Android and iOS applications may request permissions such as notifications, camera, gallery or file access, or location access when you choose a feature that needs them. Denying a permission may limit some functions without preventing general access to the service.
- Verified dealers and platform trust To preserve a professional marketplace, we may collect and review dealer verification information and may investigate suspected fake listings, misrepresentation, abusive conduct, duplicate accounts, suspicious activity, fraud, policy breaches, or misuse of the platform. Verification does not constitute a guarantee of every dealer transaction, and buyers should still conduct normal due diligence before committing to a purchase.
- International transfers Because digital infrastructure, communications tools, analytics services, or partners may operate across borders, personal data may be stored in or accessed from countries outside Tanzania. Where applicable, we take reasonable measures designed to support lawful cross-border processing.
- Security We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal data against unauthorized access, misuse, disclosure, alteration, or loss. Measures may include access controls, review procedures, logging, secure hosting practices, staff access restrictions, and vendor oversight. No system can guarantee absolute security.
- Retention We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for marketplace operations, inquiry handling, dealer verification, customer support, trust and safety review, record keeping, tax and accounting, dispute resolution, legal obligations, backup management, and platform security. Exact retention periods should be inserted into the business retention schedule before publication.
- Marketing Where allowed by law, we may send service updates, listing alerts, promotions, or marketplace news. You may opt out of promotional communications, but operational or security messages may still be sent when necessary.
- Children’s privacy The marketplace is intended for adults and authorized business representatives. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children in a manner prohibited by applicable law.
- Your rights Subject to applicable law and verification, you may request access to personal data, correction of inaccurate information, objection to direct marketing, and other rights available under applicable data-protection law. We may decline or limit a request where the information must be kept for fraud prevention, legal obligations, dispute handling, or the rights of others.
- Account deletion, marketplace account closure, and inquiry records Users may request account closure by contacting info@jubacars.net. Closure may remove access to saved searches, favorites, account dashboards, and user-facing history, but does not necessarily erase prior inquiry records already shared with a verified dealer or records that must be kept for legal, fraud-prevention, tax, audit, security, or dispute-resolution purposes. Dealer accounts may be suspended or terminated where verification fails, false information is provided, or marketplace rules are breached.
- Refunds, paid features, and cancellation privacy implications If the platform offers or later introduces dealer packages, featured listings, promotional boosts, advertising, inspections, subscriptions, or similar paid services, refunds and cancellation rules will be governed mainly by our Terms of Use and Refund & Cancellation Policy. Even after refund or cancellation, payment and dispute records may still be retained as reasonably necessary for tax, audit, security, fraud review, and legal compliance.
- Changes to this Policy We may revise this Policy from time to time. The updated version will be published with a revised date and may also be communicated through email, account notices, or in-app messages where appropriate.
- Contact and complaints Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy may be sent to info@jubacars,net or delivered to 5th floor, Mpakani Centre Building ,8 Sam Nujoma Rd, Mwenge (Kinondoni), Dar Es Salaam. Where permitted by law, you may also complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission or another competent authority.
